History of Larcom and Mitchell Race Track Equipment
Back in 1952, Larry Larcom and Charlie Mitchell formed Larcom & Mitchell Co., a farm implement dealership. They sold Allis Chalmers, New Idea and New Holland equipment. The dealership prospered for several years. Charlie was fascinated by Standardbred horse racing, having grown up only a short distance from the home of the famous "Little Brown Jug" in Delaware, Ohio. Charlie's passion for horse racing soon translated into designing and building specialized equipment to condition and maintain the horse race track surface. In December of 1978, Larcom & Mitchell delivered its first Larcom and Mitchell track conditioning equipment.
Larry Larcom and Charlie Mitchell took their commitment to quality so seriously, some of the original equipment they built is still working, like the Triangle Harrow used regularly at the standardbred track for the Jug at the Delaware County Fairgrounds.
Today, Larcom & Mitchell is known around the globe for excellent design, performance and high quality manufacturing of race track equipment. Both Charlie and Larry have passed on now but their reputation lives on and so does the business. Charlie's son David is President and owns the company along with his cousin J.T. Kreager. Together David and J.T. are working to ensure Larcom & Mitchell continues its legacy of focusing on customer’s needs. The old fashioned commitment to doing things right the first time is as evident today as it was back then.
